When August rolled around, we were busy planning and putting on our Annual Golf Tournament to raise money for our scholarship fund. This is the only fundraiser we do each year. This year, Frank Casey & Denise Swanson were the chairpersons, the ones who did most of the work getting ready. Frank grabbed the game by the clubs and went about making it a great, and successful. This was the first year that we had the tournament at Cobble Creek Golf Course. We were a little nervous in the early planning, sometimes change doesn't work out so well -- but, this change was great! The format was also a little different than a traditional tournament, golfers had to give clubs to opponents after certain holes. Sounds a little crazy, but from the comments after the tournament, it was another good idea - everyone had a wonderful time! We had a very special guest that weekend. Jesse Kosch, a former Nebraska football player was here. Jesse has a couple of special honors - he was an "All Century Punter", and played on the three championship teams during the 90's. His father, Bill Kosch, also played football at Nebraska and was on the two championship teams during the 70's. So, in this family there are 5, count 'em, 5 National Championship rings. As far as we know, that is the only family to be able to boast that. Jesse not only came and played in our tournament, he also brought merchandise from his store, Big Red of the Rockies, located in Estes Park, he also donated many items for our auction and prizes, including a beautiful reversible leather jacket. Jesse also brought ALL 5 RINGS! At a members only reception Saturday night, we got to hold them and try them on! Wow. Thank you so much to Jesse and his helper & friend, Kassie, for coming and supporting us in such a big way. We are sorry if there are members that didn't get to meet Jesse & Kassie - they were warm and wonderful people, it was an honor to have them associated with us. After the tournament, we met at Pat Byrnes house on the 9th hole of the golf course and had a marvelous lunch prepared by Larry Winchester. Thank you Larry & Pat for the gifts of the house & the lunch! And, as if the day wasn't spectacular enough, we had a record number of teams and raised a record amount of money! A very big thank you to the Casey's, they worked so hard to make this a great event. And, of course, Denise always works hard. Thanks also to all the members who helped get the hole sponsors and prizes. Be sure and mark this event on your calendar next year - you won't want to miss it.
At the reception on Saturday night, the chapter presented Jesse with a lifetime membership to the San Juan Coloradans for Nebraska in appreciation of all Jesse did to support our chapter.

Jesse Kosch and the SJCN President, Rex Swanson.
We hope you will remember to visit Jesse's website when you want to order Husker items. He supported our chapter in a big way, and so let's support him and his business!
