      A Red Letter Chapter

............................

Remember -- the monthly meeting will be Wednesday, February 6th, at 6:00 pm at The Dragon Wall restaurant. We will be eating prior to the meeting. If you have any questions please call Denise.

How well do you know our Vice President, Janice Heasty? See if you can pick out our Vice President in the following picture.

No doubt about it -- she is a Husker fan!

IT'S OFFICIALLY GOOD NEWS!!!!

Our new coach, Bo Pelini, had a very successful outing as the defense coordinator for the national champion LSU Tigers. The announcers were very complimentary of the job Bo does, and even talked about how good he would probably be at Nebraska. We are excited about next season. Also, Tom Osborne has been named as the Athletic Director and is no longer just an interim position. This all translates into great news for the Nebraska Cornhuskers!

HOUSE OF PROMISE

At the last meeting, we decided to continue to support House of Promise throughout the coming year. So, we will still be collecting things for the House of Promise. We will make a very dedicated attempt to keep you up to date on this site - things House of Promise may be doing, specific items that the need, things like that. Please continue to help us support this great program.

Why does Santa Claus always wear red?

We answered that question at the Parade of Lights in downtown Montrose on December 1st. And what an answer it was. Frank Casey made a banner that fit exactly on the sides of the float announcing that now we know why Santa wears red. That was accompanied by a tree decorated in red & white, and Santa sitting in a chair by tree. Our float was "announced" by the continual playing of the Nebraska Fight Song! Several members passed out information about our scholarship program and candy canes until we ran out -- which happened to be pretty quickly! It was not as cold as we expected, and we did have a wonderful time. We were well received by a crowd of 3,000 plus! We then went to Frank & Dianne Casey's for pizza, drinks and warmth while we watched the Big 12 Championship. Thanks for everyone who helped in some way - and an extra big thanks to Janice Heasty and Frank & Dianne!

Have you been to Business After Hours? This is one of the ongoing things the chapter does. It is held the 4th Tuesday of the month, at a different business each month and is a great way to network with other community members and businesses. The cost is $6.00, food and drinks provided. The next BAH will be February 22nd at Timberline Bank, in the Oxbow Crossing complex.   Let Denise Swanson know if you can attend, she will turn in reservations for you. Reservations are so that the businesses know how big of a crowd to prepare for! The next business after hours will be in January. We will post the place when we know it!

Get ready for these upcoming events!

January 11th will be an outing to the Magic Circle Theater. Our very own Dick Shannon is directing "40 Carats". This is a comedy, and since we always have such fun at the theater, this one should be a really great evening. And, as if that wasn't enough, it will be opening night. We will be meeting at Magic Circle. As usual, Denise will be getting our tickets in a bunch so we can sit together. Please call Denise if you plan on attending.

February 6th is something we have never done before. Our monthly meeting will be a dinner meeting, at the Dragon Wall on North Townsend at 6:00 pm. Come meet & eat!

Also sometime in February Bob & Janice Heasty will host a game night. This will be a great opportunity to get to know some of our members while we aren't working or watching football. If you know of someone that might be interested in joining our chapter, please extend an invitation to attend as your guest!

March 9th is Second Sunday Cinema at the Fox Theater, downtown. We will let you know what the show is and what time it starts.

We have a 5 month gap now in our activities. We would like to do some type of community service project at least one of those months. Some of the things that have been suggested is helping Habitat for Humanity, helping someone elderly or disabled rake leaves or other help around their house. I'm sure there are other great ideas out there -- please let us know if you have a suggestion.

NEWSFLASH!!!

WE HAVE A DATE FOR THE JUNE GOLF TOURNAMENT -- MAY 31ST!

The tournament will be at Cobble Creek Golf Course again this year. Pat Byrnes has again very graciously offered his home for lunch and festivities. This is our big scholarship fundraiser for the year. That translates to WE NEED YOUR HELP.
